I have lived and worked in Portsmouth for over 20 years, almost all of them have been at Portsmouth City Council. I look after the teams who deliver all the repairs, maintenance and construction of our council-owned buildings and homes. In my role I am responsible for overseeing the building safety regulations. I want to ensure we continue giving residents high quality homes that meet their needs, by focusing on modernising and improving the energy efficiency of homes, and above all, making sure they’re safe.
I’ve spent my entire 30-year career working right here in Portsmouth, starting as a building surveyor, managing planned maintenance projects to progressing to my current role. I lead the repairs service, made up of repair surveyors, contracts and customer repairs officers, to carry out the right repair at the right time. We work together to ensure your homes are maintained and that we provide suitable homes when needed, alongside ensuring we are compliant with the safety and quality consumer standard. We care about the work we do and the residents we work for as they are at the heart of our service.
I am responsible for making sure that your homes meet the building safety requirements, and I have responsibility for overall Health and Safety compliance, in partnership with PCC’s corporate team. I manage a variety of activities including gas safety checks, electrical safety and building fire risk assessments. I have lived in the Portsmouth area and worked for the council within Building Services since 2013 when I started as a Trainee Building Surveyor. I am dedicated to ensuring our residents feel safe in the homes they live in.
I lead the teams responsible for delivering construction projects across Portsmouth City Council’s housing stock. I work closely with specialist teams of professionals including architects, surveyors, and engineers to improve the quality of our existing homes and deliver much-needed new housing. Since joining the Building Services team in 2017, I’ve developed a strong commitment to working collaboratively with residents, communities, and contractors. I’m passionate about ensuring our projects not only meet high standards but also make a real difference to the people who live in our homes.
With over eight years of experience in the energy sector, I lead a dedicated team of specialists committed to delivering innovative and impactful energy solutions. Our focus is on improving efficiency across domestic buildings and helping businesses reduce their electricity costs. I work closely with clients to identify the most effective energy-saving measures, assessing feasibility and long-term impact to ensure every solution delivers real value and measurable savings.

Leading a specialist team of technical professionals, you will secure external funding, manage significant budgets and contracts, and work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to drive the Council’s sustainability ambitions forward. You’ll play a key role in identifying new opportunities, implementing energy and carbon reduction initiatives, and ensuring compliance with evolving legislation and regulatory requirements.
