Your New Role
Planning and Economic Growth is dedicated to leading the sustainable development of our city, enabling it to deliver sustainable growth and regeneration and meet present and future needs whilst improving its environment and everyone’s quality of life. As a Senior Planning Officer you will undertake research and analysis to support the preparation of planning policy documents including the new Local Plan. You will analyse and respond to planning legislation and policy consultations, as well as undertaking public consultation on planning policy documents. You will liaise with other officers in the department, other Council services and Council Members on all aspects of planning policy. You will also represent the Council at planning meetings, conferences and seminars.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will need to be educated to degree level in Town and Country Planning or equivalent with post qualification experience of working in planning policy. You will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience in the areas of sustainable development and nature conservation, as well as experience in community consultation and participation. You should have knowledge of current planning legislation and procedures and be proficient in research and analysis with the ability to accurately summarise outcomes. You should have good communication and interpersonal skills to develop partnerships with other organisations. Ideally you will have project management experience and be a team player with organisation and planning skills that meet the requirements of the post.
