Hours of work: 37 hpw to be worked Monday to Thursday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and Friday 9.00 am to 4.30 pm – College term time only

The Designated Safeguarding Assistant (DSA) contributes to the provision of effective student safeguarding and child protection throughout the college by supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and cross college safeguarding support for staff in their roles.

The Designated Safeguarding Assistant (DSA) will hold a cross-college responsibility for student safeguarding supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and any Senior Leadership Team member as necessary. The DSA will demonstrate the highest levels of commitment and compliance to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Relevant up to date training and experience is essential and it is critical that you have achieved GCSE or their equivalent in both English and Maths. You will need to be reliable, demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and have an understanding of the need to maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students. You need to be able to work with sensitivity and discretion. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.
