Ravelin Housing Ltd (RHL) is wholly owned by Portsmouth City Council. This subsidiary company forms part of the Ravelin Group which also includes: Ravelin Group Ltd and Ravelin Property Ltd. RHL is a commercial (non-teckal) subsidiary company that will deliver housing and property projects in and around the Portsmouth area.
Your new role
The role of Non-Executive Director (NED) will be with Ravelin Housing Ltd (RHL) and will report to the Chairman.
A NED will bring innovation and experience and will drive forward the strategic agenda of the Board.
There should be constructive challenge of proposals so that decisions made by the Board achieve the best commercial outcome and deliver in-line with the approved business case which is reassessed annually.
You must be able to balance the need to remain independent of the operational day-to-day business of the company while maintaining a level of knowledge that will enable them to challenge, where appropriate, and pose tough, objective questions.
You must be able to scrutinise operational and financial performance and be satisfied as to the integrity of financial, commercial and other business information.

What you’ll need to succeed
As NED at Ravelin Housing Ltd you must have extensive experience of operating at a senior level within Housing or Property Development, preferably as a Director or Non-Executive Director.
A strong business acumen is essential.
You will need to be able to analyse and interpret complex data and on occasion present this information to the Board meaning the ability to effectively chair meetings is essential.
You will have a thorough understanding of how to provide strategic direction as well as knowledge of governance and how Boards can add value.
Have an interest in the delivery of mixed and balanced Housing Developments.
The ability to empathise with, communicate with, lead and inspire a wide range of people, both internally and externally.
Apply specialist knowledge and experience appropriately.
Relationships are key, you must be able to develop and maintain constructive professional relationships with the executive team, other board members, governors and key stakeholders.
