What is the role
This role is based with the Health & Adult Social Care finance team and reports to the Senior Accountant.
As an accounting technician you will provide high quality financial management, professional advice and accountancy services to the Directors, the Senior Management team and budget managers within the Service. The role will also provide support and information to key stakeholders (e.g. elected members, the public, other services within Portsmouth City Council) via the Senior Accountant.
The successful applicant will cover grant reporting, government submissions, budget monitoring and forecasting information and contribute to the preparation of the budget, year end accounts plus other financial analysis and support as required. The role will support the wider team and assist in providing analysis and support for a wide range of tasks, including a range of financial and contractual issues, supporting best practice and process improvement, interpreting legislation, applying financial regulations and codes of practice and providing support for budget manager and the service.

As well as being a qualified Accounting Technician you will have the ability to form good relationships and provide a first class service.
