Bilingual Learning Assistants -secondment/fixed term opportunity until March 2022 due to funding.

Band: 4, Salary: £18,948 – £20,159 p.a, pro rata (£11,054 – £11,761 for 25 hours per week, TTO 39 weeks) depending on experience

25 hours per week – term-time only (39 working weeks per year)

We have the following vacancy:

Romanian – fixed term contract or secondment until 31st March 2022, although this may be extended. 

25 hours per week (ideally worked over 4 days, weekdays)
Salary Band 4: see above for details

We also require casual staff for the following:

Kurdish (all dialects) and Tamil

Salary paid will equivalent to £11.00 – £11.71 per hour depending on experience

All posts in the EMAS team are term-time only working and holiday restrictions apply with term-time posts.

Your New Role

We are a team of Bilingual Learning Assistants, Bilingual Support Officers and Advisers working with the Education team. We work in partnership with schools to meet the needs of bilingual learners and ethnic minority pupils at risk of under-achievement. We support pupils across both primary and secondary age phases, as well as in nursery settings.

As well as providing a support service complementary to teaching activities through first language or bilingual communication you will act as a classroom assistant, working in partnership with the class adviser supporting the language and learning needs of pupils.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will have fluency in English and your first language as well as good numeracy and literacy skills.  Experience of working with children at home and/in a school setting as well as experience of interpretation and translation (formally or informally)
