Bilingual Learning Assistants -secondment/fixed term opportunity until 31 August 2023 due to funding (with the possibility to extend).

 Band: 4, Salary: £19,280 – £20,512 p.a, (£13,498-£14,360 pa, pro rata for 30 hours per week, TTO 39 weeks) depending on experience

 We have the following vacancies:

 Pashto & Dari- fixed term contract or secondment until 31 August 2023

30 hours per week (worked over 5 days, weekdays, school hours) – term time only 39 weeks.

All posts in the EMAS team are term-time only working and holiday restrictions apply with term-time posts.

Your New Role

We are a team of Bilingual Learning Assistants, Bilingual Support Officers and Advisers working with the Education team. We work in partnership with schools to meet the needs of bilingual learners and ethnic minority pupils at risk of under-achievement. We support pupils across both primary and secondary age phases, as well as in nursery settings.

As well as providing a support service complementary to teaching activities through first language or bilingual communication you will act as a classroom assistant, working in partnership with the class adviser supporting the language and learning needs of pupils.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will have fluency in English and your first language as well as good numeracy and literacy skills.  Experience of working with children at home and/in a school setting as well as experience of interpretation and translation (formally or informally)
