Your New Role
We have a new and exciting opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic person, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to join our Regeneration Directorate as an Engagement Officer assisting our Strategic Developments team.
As an Engagement Officer for infrastructure projects, you will be responsible for engaging with Portsmouth City Council’s key strategic stakeholders including local residents, businesses, schools, public and private sector partners, neighbouring local authorities and local interest groups.
The role will assist the project teams in reaching their key stakeholders and audiences, bringing them with us as we work towards creating a city with easy travel that is cleaner, greener and better connected.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will need to be educated to degree level, or with equivalent relevant qualification or suitable experience in within an engagement role. Ideally, you will have excellent video capturing and editing skills and experience, but it is essential that you understand the approaches to engagement and how to address different audiences. You will have strong influencing and negotiation skills, plus experience of communicating with the public. You will have excellent verbal, written and video communication skills, with the ability to handle complex stakeholder relationship issues in high-pressure situations.
You will have the ability to work independently and proactively, along with the ability to prioritise workload, the ability to plan and monitor project plans, as well as good working knowledge of Microsoft applications and general IT skills, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop is desirable.
