The D-Day Story tells the story of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy using the personal possessions and words of the people who took part. In 2020 we opened the latest addition to the museum, the last surviving Landing Craft Tank from D-Day – LCT 7074

Your New Role

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience of planning and running events at a busy visitor attraction. Reporting to the Public Participation Officer, you will carry out admin to support the organisation and marketing of events on the Landing Craft Tank and in the museum. You’ll get involved in running events, making sure they run smoothly on the day and that visitors have a fantastic experience. You’ll also work with the customer service team to welcome visitors to the museum and the ship.

You don’t have to be an expert on the Second World War and Landing Craft Tank 7074, it’s more important that you are keen to learn how to organise an events programme and provide fantastic customer service.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will be a young person aged 16-25 who can demonstrate you are great at communicating with people in person and online. You will be well organised and can prioritise different tasks. You will also have a good standard of written and spoken English.

You will be comfortable with carrying out physical tasks such as moving boxes of resources or setting up rooms for events.  You will also be comfortable working outside as the LCT 7074 is an outdoor attraction.
