Your New Role
Portsmouth City Council’s Housing Needs, Advice & Support Service works directly with customers to help deal with housing issues and prevent homelessness in the city. We are a busy front-line service dealing directly with customers, many of whom are vulnerable and/or facing homelessness.
Day to day you will provide a vital role in administrative support to the Housing Needs, Advice & Support team. You will also be involved in paying invoices, updating systems and spreadsheets. You will arrange emergency housing for homeless families with a variety of temporary accommodation providers. You will assist in ensuring the best use of available resources and liaise with a range of internal and external agencies to allocate to registered social landlord vacancies.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will need general office experience and an understanding of working within a front-line service, as well as good written and verbal communication skills. You will have an attention to detail, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English and good IT skills.
You will be proactive, can work on your own initiative and be able to manage multiple tasks whilst being able to meet deadlines. You will demonstrate good interpersonal and team working skills. A good standard of numeracy and literacy is required.
