Your New Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, creative marketing and communications professional to make a real difference to the city by supporting the planning and economic development teams. Developing and delivering effective marketing strategies to support our strategic objectives in shaping the future of the city and the business, skills training and job opportunities available to its residents, and providing communications and engagement support to ensure residents, businesses, stakeholders and the media are well-informed about these subjects.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will need a communications, marketing or PR degree and/or professional qualification OR substantial experience in a communications, marketing or PR role. You will have proven experience successfully leading on marketing and communications for an organisation or major project, as well as a good track record developing and delivering successful targeted marketing and communications strategies and campaigns designed to engage a wide range of target audiences, delivering results to clear SMART objectives. You should demonstrate proven experience working directly with local communities, using a range of tools to effectively engage with a range of audiences. You will need experience co-ordinating and delivering face-to-face communications with a range of audiences including businesses and the public, including giving confident presentations and running exhibitions, events and roadshows. You should have the confidence to liaise and negotiate with a range of stakeholders, inside and outside the council, and the ability to adapt your approach to your audience.
