St Swithun’s Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Midday Assistant.  We are a ‘good’ school with well-behaved children and a very supportive staff in the heart of Southsea.

Hours to be worked will be between 12.00 pm – 1.00 pm Monday – Friday, term time only
Contract/Hours: Permanent, 5 hours per week, term time only
Salary Details: Band 1, FTE £18,329, pro-rata £2,476
Required Start Date: Monday 1st November 2021
Closing Date: Monday 27th September 2021
Interview Date: Wednesday 29th September 2021

This is a busy and varied role requiring the successful candidate to supervise pupils during the lunchtime period.  Our team of lunchtime staff work together sharing different duties over the week.  Duties include:

  • Supervising and assisting children in the dinner hall to collect, eat and clear away their meals,
  • Supervising and engaging children in play activities on the playground,
  • Ensuring children play together positively and co-operatively with good behaviour,
  • Administering first aid, and
  • During periods of ‘wet play’ engage children in suitable classroom activities, ensuring classroom behaviour expectations are upheld.
