The Harbour School is looking to appoint the following position to start as soon as possible on a Temporary Contract (Maternity Cover) for one year.

Pastoral Lead –  37hrs per week TT+1 (40 weeks per year)

Band: H

Pay Scale: 18 – 22

Actual Salary: £26,390 – £28,760 (depending on experience)

These are the key areas of essential experience that applicants would need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven track record of working as a DSL/DDSL
  • Be an integral part of Team Pupil within the school, sharing pupil voice
  • Develop and sustain strong collaborative links with pupils, families, and the wider professional network
  • Have the skills, knowledge and understanding to be a proactive member of the strategy team around a child / family in crisis
  • Be an advocate for the child and the family through the MASH, Early Help, CIN, CPP and LAC process, including preparation of documents, completion of assessments and be confident in decision making to contribute to the planning process
  • Track vulnerable pupils, highlighting areas of concern and identifying targeted support
  • Establish relationships with pupils to be able to work reactively with a child in crisis e.g. working independently away from school campus
  • Identify barriers to good school attendance and work with the family and team around them to improve attendance
  • Promote school council as a vehicle for actively listening to pupil voice

The Harbour School is a special school for learners with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH) Needs and/or Medical Needs.
