The Service 

The Regeneration Directorate plays an important part in delivering the City Vision and our PMO supports project delivery through assurance and quality management activities. We work with programme managers, project managers and property, planning, transport and infrastructure experts to ensure our initiatives are successful. You will be supported through management, training and mentoring to be successful and develop your career in a professional and supportive working environment.


The team includes PMO Delivery managers, an Analyst, programme Support Officer and PMO Coordinator. Working effectively together the team provides a great environment to develop and hone your PMO skills and will be there to support you navigate our Directorate and working in a local government environment. As part of a wider Business Support team you will work alongside colleagues who provide services as diverse as community engagement, building information management and bid management.

Your New Role

The Programme Management Office (PMO) has become a centralised service offer providing consultancy advice and capability within the Regeneration Directorate with the aspiration to become a corporate offer.

The PMO work collaboratively with service representatives across the Directorate; project and programme management teams; and other key stakeholders (such as Finance, Legal, Procurement, Communications and Democratic Services). The PMO are adaptive and flexible to service needs, recognising that one size does not fit all.

Reporting to the Head of PMO you will be responsible for supporting the successful integration of project, programme and portfolio management approaches within the Council to enable successful delivery of all programmes and initiatives to meet the City Vision and corporate priorities.

You will play a proactive role in enabling the PMO to become a recognised centre of expertise providing oversight and support to drive and embed excellence in project, programme and portfolio management.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will need to have experience with diary management and minute taking is, as well as being proactive with the ability to work independently with little supervision. You will be a highly organised individual with experience of working to deadlines and using own initiative to solve problems, a forward thinking person and adaptable and flexible.

You will have excellent attention to detail and the confidence and ability to chase senior leadership and programme and project managers for time critical actions You will act as a main point of contact for the PMO so you will need have excellent communication skills and be professional at all times. Ideally you will have a project management qualification or experience of project management.
