Your New Role
Reporting to the Head of PMO you will be responsible for supporting the successful integration of project, programme and portfolio management approaches within the Council to enable successful delivery of all programmes and initiatives to meet the City Vision and corporate priorities.
You will play a proactive role in enabling the PMO to become a recognised centre of expertise providing oversight and support to drive and embed excellence in project, programme and portfolio management. You will provide a consultancy service that offers advice and guidance on programme and project set-up and navigation through programme and project cycle. You will work collaboratively to develop PMO solutions to issues through tools and templates and processes. This includes research, design, testing and evaluating their effectiveness and efficiency, keeping an up to date log and supporting the successful dissemination and adoption. You will support the tracking and reporting of projects and programmes including data collection, data analysis and presentation to ensure a clear line of sight.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will have excellent literacy and numeracy skills and be PRINCE2 Practitioner level qualified (or other methodologies/experience). You will have knowledge of MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint at intermediate level and experience of developing policies. You should demonstrate a good understanding of the structures, processes and governance frameworks across the City Council and experience of supporting and managing a range of projects/programmes. You will have experience of implementing business change, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to actively listen to feedback and constructively challenge at the right time.
You will have a positive attitude combined with the ability to work collaboratively and build supportive relationships across all directorates, as well as strong coaching/mentoring skills and strong analytical and problem solving skills. You will demonstrate the ability to work independently and at times with a minimal direction. You will have strong organisation skills and ability to work accurately and meet challenging deadlines in a pressurised environment with competing demands.
