The Service

The Regeneration Directorate of Portsmouth City Council manages and maintains a multi-million-pound property portfolio. We have a varied portfolio of property assets including Port 
Solent (a leisure, retail and residential marina complex), industrial sites, retail units, offices, 
Portsmouth International Port as well as more specialist properties like hotels, supermarkets, 
golf courses, leisure properties and an agricultural portfolio.
The total asset value is in the region £1billion and the commercial assets generate a net 
income of over £10 million per annum.
In Property & Investment, our purpose is to manage the non-residential assets cost-effectively and uphold quality relationships with our tenants. All our work is geared towards achieving our purpose.

 

Your New Role

Working within the Property and Investment Team, you will provide support to the Property 
Team Commercial Property Officers and Graduate Surveyors by assisting in the following tasks:

You will:

Evaluate repair requests and taking appropriate action.
Identify land ownership by reference to GIS mapping systems and Land Registry records.
Place orders on the team’s financial system (Fusion) for equipment and contractor works.
Assist in the assessment and formalising of access rights across PCC land.

You will be:

Meeting, communicating and liaising with customers and other stakeholders.
Measuring and negotiating the sale of small parcels of PCC land.
Monitoring the Commercial Property phone line and email inbox and responding to   enquiries in a timely and efficient way.
Working sensibly and sensitively with Councillors and other teams, recommending appropriate work.

What you’ll need to succeed


You need to have:

A good level of knowledge of Maths and English – we will test you on this as part of the application process.
At least two years general office experience.
The ability to interpret hard copy maps and industry standard electronic mapping systems.
Sound knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft applications, in particular Excel and Word.
An understanding of when you need to ask for help, as this is a politically sensitive role. 
The ability to communicate basic property information effectively to customers and stakeholders across and outside the organisation both verbally & in writing.
