The Harbour School are looking to appoint Pupil Support Staff for the Children and Families Team on a fixed term or permanent contract to start as soon as possible.

Pupil Support Staff – Mentor (Children and Families Team)

37 hrs per week TTO

Band: F £22,128 – £25,926 pro rata depending on experience

Actual Salary: £18,936- £22,186

The Harbour School in the role of Mentor within our Children and Families Team.

The main functions of these new posts will be to provide personalised, targeted interventions informed by the individual needs of pupils in the school including the following interventions as appropriate:

  • Role of Key Adult using the PACE Approach to overcome blocked-trust and improve relationships and engagement with education.
  • Mentoring to identify and overcome barriers to learning and build on successes. Use solution focused collaborative problem solving and restorative approaches.
  • Implement specific interventions to promote a Growth Mindset through regular supported review and reflection.
  • Teach and assess social and emotional skills to be ready to learn.
  • Teach 1:1 or small group work focusing on core subjects (English, Maths and Emotional Literacy) and/or other academic or vocational subjects.
  • Support transition including to post 16 provision.
  • Work in partnership with key school staff (both at The Harbour School and in mainstream schools) and other agencies.

We are looking for applicants who are able to offer a flexible and nurturing approach to pupils, who can demonstrate an understanding SEMH needs. Own transport and flexibility to move across the city is essential for this role.
