Rough Sleeper Mental Wellbeing Worker
Outreach Team, Southampton
18.5hrs pw, Fixed Term (12 months)
Salary range 19 – 23 (£20,292 – £23,023 per annum pro rata)
Although the role is predominantly outreach, you will be based in a busy homeless hostel in Southampton, which accommodates 29 men and women experiencing homelessness and complex traumas. You will visit B&B’s, supported housing and people who are street homeless to offer support.
- Responding to individuals in need of wellbeing and mental health support
- Providing one-to-one interventions
- Referring to mental health and wellbeing services
- Liaising with support workers
- Recording and reporting on individuals seen
- Identifying trends in mental health needs
The successful candidate will have good knowledge and understanding of mental health and the complex traumas of people who are experiencing homelessness.
A good level of experience of working with behaviours that challenge and responding to this with a personcentre, empathic approach.
Ability to deliver person-centred one-to-one intervention’s including: mindfulness, short term solution focused and therapeutic.
An extensive understanding of mental health services in the city, and good communication skills to refer and liaise with these services, as well as other agencies involved in an individual’s care.
