Your New Role

You will provide day to day support to the Superintendent Registrar and to work flexibly as a member of a team to meet the needs of the public attending the register office by providing information, issuing certificates, registering births, deaths and marriages/civil partnerships when required by the Superintendent Registrar.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will have a minimum of 3 years extensive registration experience in all aspects of the service including taking notices of marriage/civil partnership involving foreign nationals, foreign documents and use of translators.  You will have experience of managing work flow in a busy environment and have excellent attention to detail with a calm and patient manner.


Special Conditions attached to the post

You will be required to work approximately one in four Saturdays as part of the marriage rota overseeing a team of staff – this will be part of the annualised contractual overtime which is currently 80 hours per year.

During the summer months it is likely that other weekend work will be required – again this will be part of the annualised contractual overtime.

You will be required to be on call over weekend and bank holidays for the registration of faith deaths and marriages/civil partnerships by Registrar Generals Licence (as part of the one in four marriage rota).
