Your new role

You will be leading and managing the SEN team, one of twelve teams in the Inclusion Service which has the overarching aim of removing the barriers to achievement for all Portsmouth children and young people, especially with special educational needs or those from vulnerable groups.

The SEN Team is responsible for co-ordinating and managing the statutory education, health and care needs assessment and annual review processes on behalf of the local authority in accordance with relevant legislation and the SEN code of practice.

You will be responsible for leading the SEN team and ensuring that the above duties are fulfilled so that children with special educational needs and disabilities receive the right provision to meet their needs.

You will also be a key member of the Inclusion Service Management Team and your skills and knowledge will make a valuable contribution to the strategic developments and priority areas with the Children, Families and Education Directorate. You will work closely with the Head of Inclusion to deliver the Portsmouth SEND strategy.
